Our Mission

PlateWatch is a community-driven platform dedicated to improving road safety in Indonesia by documenting traffic violations. Our goal is to create a constructive environment where citizens can contribute to safer roads.

Core Principles

  • Accuracy: Submit only genuine, unaltered evidence of traffic violations
  • Respect: Treat all community members with dignity and respect
  • Safety: Prioritize public safety over personal grievances
  • Responsibility: Use the platform responsibly and ethically

What to Report

✅ Acceptable Reports

  • Clear evidence of traffic violations (running red lights, reckless driving, illegal parking, etc.)
  • Photos or videos showing the violation in progress
  • Visible license plates for identification
  • Accurate location and time information
  • Factual descriptions without inflammatory language

❌ Unacceptable Reports

  • Staged or fabricated violations
  • Personal disputes or revenge reporting
  • Reports without clear evidence of a violation
  • Content that violates privacy of uninvolved individuals
  • Blurry or unclear media that doesn't show the violation
  • Reports based on hearsay or assumptions

Content Standards

Media Quality

  • Photos and videos should be clear enough to identify the violation
  • License plates should be visible and readable
  • Timestamp and location should be accurate
  • Do not edit or manipulate media to misrepresent events

Descriptions

  • Provide factual, objective descriptions
  • Include relevant details (date, time, location, violation type)
  • Avoid profanity, hate speech, or inflammatory language
  • Do not include personal information of drivers (names, addresses, phone numbers)

Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal and potential account suspension:

  • False Reports: Fabricated or staged violations
  • Harassment: Using the platform to target or harass individuals
  • Hate Speech: Content promoting discrimination or violence
  • Doxxing: Sharing personal information without consent
  • Spam: Repetitive or irrelevant content
  • Illegal Content: Content that violates Indonesian law
  • Graphic Violence: Excessive gore or disturbing content (unless directly relevant to the violation)
  • Sexual Content: Pornographic or sexually explicit material

Community Interaction

Comments

  • Keep comments constructive and relevant to the report
  • Avoid personal attacks or inflammatory remarks
  • Respect different perspectives and opinions
  • Do not share unverified information or rumors

Flagging Content

  • Use the flag feature to report violations of these guidelines
  • Provide specific reasons when flagging content
  • Do not abuse the flagging system for personal disagreements

Privacy and Safety

  • Only license plates should be clearly visible in reports
  • Blur faces of uninvolved individuals (passengers, pedestrians, bystanders)
  • Do not share addresses, phone numbers, or other personal details
  • Respect the privacy of minors - blur faces of children
  • Do not use the platform to stalk or track individuals

Moderation Process

All reports are reviewed by our moderation team before being published:

  • Pending: Reports await review by moderators
  • Approved: Reports that meet our guidelines are published
  • Rejected: Reports that violate guidelines are not published
  • Flagged: Published reports flagged by the community are re-reviewed

Moderators may request additional information or clarification before approving reports.

Consequences of Violations

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

  • Content Removal: Violating content will be removed
  • Warning: First-time minor violations may receive a warning
  • Temporary Suspension: Repeated or serious violations may result in temporary account suspension
  • Permanent Ban: Severe or repeated violations will result in permanent account termination
  • Legal Action: Illegal activities may be reported to authorities

Best Practices

  • Capture violations safely - do not endanger yourself or others
  • Use dashcams when possible for better evidence quality
  • Include context in your descriptions (weather conditions, traffic situation, etc.)
  • Be patient with the moderation process
  • Engage constructively with the community
  • Report genuine safety concerns to local authorities in addition to PlateWatch
